Armed Forces Reserve Center, Middletown, Conn.

This project is an ACEC/CT Grand Conceptor Engineering Excellence Award winner.

Architectural Engineers designed the HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems for this two-building LEED Gold project. AEI integrated energy recovery equipment, high-efficiency gas fired boilers, solar-thermal domestic water heating and demand control ventilation as part of achieving a 30% energy savings below the ASHRAE base system. The project was modeled using Revit software with the model being exported to trade contractors for estimating, shop drawing preparation, and for use in laying out systems and equipment in the field.
